Im not sure how to check the coolant on my Malibu Classic 2004, but since
the temp gauge never goes past the halfway mark Im assuming it isnt low but
sometimes on acceleration my coolant light comes on and goes away after a
few seconds of coasting, usually won't see it again unless on a hard turn.
I know it has to do with coolant moving to one side of the radiatior or
something but even so, shouldnt this not happen?  Should I worry about it?

Not worrisome, but should look after it asap. You're down enough coolant
that acceleration clears the switch to indicate low coolant. Top it up to
the cold mark (only when the engine is cold...right?). And keep an eye on
the coolant level. This was the
first sign my intake gasket was gone. Don't use generic coolant either.
You're stuck
with GM's dexcool (the orange stuff).

Cheers,
Andy

I don't have the 3100 though its a 2.2L Ecotec, I dont think it is known for
any gasket problems.  and the car iteself is not overheating.
