The original design seems to be that a couple of flanges are supposed to
snap in to slots in the plastic, but that obviously didn't work, since mine
looks like a couple of small pieces of 2-sided tape were put on it, but that
only lasted for the first few months as well. Unfortunately typical --
reasonable design, poorly executed.

I wondered if anyone here owns am impala and if they are better quality than
the Malibu or pretty much the same. I like my Malibu but wanted something
nicer and was thinking of sticking with GM. Hoping to get an Impala in four
years.

I have 01 Impala and feel I have had more than my fair share of problems.
Luckily most things were under warranty; sunroof switch, rotor warpage
plaged me and is common to Impalas as per the dealer I am sure there are
more that I can not remember. Several things recently (110K) wheel
bearings, tie rods, struts, CV joints, airbag clock spring. I supose it
will depend on how long the engine lasts but currently I do not belive I
will buy another. It does drive great even at 115MPH (European roads are
great).
