This might sound stupid but my car keeps locking itself.  It has
happened twice in the last week and unfortunately the keys were inside
and it cost me $65 to get them out.  The car is under warranty and we
had it back to the dealer - surprise, they couldn’t find anything
wrong.  Now we have to submit the lock-out bill to the warranty
company - who it turns out, will only pay up to $25 of the total bill.
Does anyone know how to deprogram the key fobs or know a dealer other
than Simmons Rockwell (because they won’t help us) OR has anyone dealt
with Guardian Warranty Corp. and had similar problems with them not
paying what they are supposed to?

if it were parked in the same vicinity everytime i would wonder about
someone else being on the same freq.

another thought - were your keys in the vehicle both times, and if so -
was it particulary hot out?  I'm wondering if severe heat and/or
humidity might activate the lock frequency on the fob...

Yes, the keys were inside both times (something I feel really stupid
about - I never leave my keys in the car) and both times were early
morning - temp around 65 - 70, not especially humid.

Nope, the first time was near Syracuse, NY and the second time was
near Addison, NY about 2 hours apart.
