My brakes were grinding when i put on the brakes. Do i need to change brake
pads? They squeek also. This is a 2004 Malibu Classic with 33900 miles.

Yep, they're done.  I'm surprised they lasted that long.

I highly reccomend changing the rotors as well or you may end up with the
same problem.  I had to change my pads at 29k miles and had the rotors
turned.  Not even 200 miles later and they were grinding again, I replaced
the rotors this time and no problems since.
