I have a '79 Chevy Malibu with a broken turn signal lever. I'm not sure
how to remove it, looks like it just twist out. I have a new lever it has
a male slot then a female ring. no threads. Can someone help? thanks.

As I recall, the lever bolts to the switch.  A lock plate depressor,
and a replacement snap ring is needed.  Once lock plate is removed
switch is accessible.   The plastic pod on the left has a cover,
which is how lever screws are accessed without dropping column.

Too bad whole cover didn't screw in from behind, making it a 10
minute job.
