This is more of an annoyance than anything but about once in two or three
months the tube leading to the carburetor from the EGR valve will pop (a
rather loud pop at that can be heard inside the cab over the sound of engine
and radio) off right at startup.  Any ideas as to why this is happening?  I
did inspect the valve itself and it seems to be fine.

Ok, in that case you do not have a carbeurator, you have a throttle body
(it's fuel injected).  Next, there should not be a vacuum line running
directly from the EGR valve to the throttle body.  The vacuum line should
run from the throttle body to the EGR solenoid, located right next to the
ESC module and MAP sensor on the passenger side of the engine.  From there
it should run to the valve.

Is this how yours is hooked up?
