I have a 2004 Chevy Avalanche 1500 4x4. Got 11500 miles on it. It's a great
vehicle with one very annoying aspect. I've heard others, owners and non
owners talk about how this truck dances on the road and blows around a lot
in the wind. Well mine certinally does. Way too much I might add. I've
scanned the web for anything pertaining to this and I still don't know just
what the cause is or what to do about it. I assume that Chevy designed it
this way to give it the very soft ride that it has. The dealer certinally
is no help in this matter since we all believe there is nothing broken.
It's just supposed to be that way. BUT what exactally is the cause ? Soft
springs and shocks, weak sway bars, lousy tires, too much overboost in the
power steering or a combination of all. Other then this truck having coil
springs in the rear it almost identical to the 2000 Silverado underneath
that I had last, and that truck did not exibit this trait. The Avalanche is
at it's worst just off center. Once in a turn and has a load on the
suspension it seems to get much better. I could upgrade parts one at a time
to see what has the most effect but that could take a long time and a lot
of money.
Any and all opinions greatly appreciated.

I don't know anything about the Avalanche but what you describe sounds like
a vehicle that doesn't have enough toe in. That tends to let a vehicle
wander around the road.
