I have a 89 Suburban 350 FI 700r4 with 165,000 miles
I have MANY problems but I'll list the most annoying first. First of all the
motor and trans seem to be running very well. Except for my 8mpg fuel econ. I
don't know much about repairing vehicles but I do know that vacuum hoses are
supposed to lead somewhere. In the engine bay there are several small hoses
which to me look like vacuum hoses, they look like they were cut off or torn
loose...? There are also no breathers on the valve covers, just a nipple. More
small hoses cut leading from bottom of radiator... I have no idea if this may
be leading to poor mpg. Can I find a vacuum routing diagram online? ANY advice
is appretiated greatly! I purchased this truck a few months ago and new
problems pop up all the time.

Joe,
You should have the following vacuum lines:
1) One steel line from TBI to power brake booster.
2) One rubber/plastic line from back of TBI to MAP sensor (located on
passenger side of intake).
3) One rubber/plastic line from front of TBI to EGR solenoid (located right
in front of the MAP).
4) One rubber/plactic line from front of TBI to Evap. Purge valve, located
on top of the charcoal cannister, just behind the driver's side headlight.
5) One fat rubber hose from front of TBI to PCV valve on passenger side
valve cover.
6) You will also have a rubber hose running from the air cleaner spacer
into the hole at the back of the driver's side valve cover. This is the
breather line.
