Thats a rediculous reply. Im wanting to base my decision on what
others have had good luck with ... not a rack full of them in a store.

Try Goodyear Workhorse XtraGrips. Had a set on my former work van. Great
tire not super quiet but they take a beating real well.

Something like Michelin XPS tires. Quite Nice, Hold up well. Used on a lot
of Ambulances around here.

I've had decent life and 'toughness' with Firestones and Michelins. I put a
set of Workhorses on and took 'em off after about 8000 miles. Couldn't stand
the ride. Let the tire guy keep have 'em. Junk....

My experience is that any tire with the LT in the sizing (light truck) is a
10-ply tire as opposed to the 6-ply you get with a sizing with the letter P in
it.
I've used Michelins and Bridgestone and prefer the wear and ride of the
Michelins. One thing I do to save money on them is to get them from a "Truck
Tire" dealer who gets a lot of customers with brand new trucks wanting to go up
from a 16 inch tire to something larger. The 16 inch tire is standard on many
new trucks so even if they are basically new, the dealer has to discount the
price since they are technically "used" tires. Saves about $100 per tire if you
ask around.
