I want to get a remote starter on my blazer, someone said there is an
additional $40 because of something with the actual key (a sensor or chip or
something).

Anyone know anything about exactly what this is for the additional cost?

If you have factory security where your key is one of the expensive ones
with the "chip" inside then ya you have to get a key planted in this special
box thing that connects to the vehicle to make it think a legitimate key is
in the ignition.
