Gee its not that hard to figure out. He has a one ton with a  roll back
meaning he probably has a flatbed wrecker.  The wiring harness burnt and he
repaired the damaged section, replaced some sensors,  It ran great. A while
later on a cold morning it quit at the end of the driveway and more burnt
harness was found. Owner now ordered complete harness from gm, $650 worth,
and installed it,  Now it cranks but wont start..

Will the truck start and run for a bit if a small amount of gas is squirted
into the intake?

The list of  possible problems is large.  But all start with the same
question, what caused the wiring harness to smoke?
Injectors could be messed up if their wiring shorted out to higher voltage
then they were designed to handle. Same with the fuel pump.  Computer could
have gotten cooked(most likely did get cooked, but there could still be
other issues as well).  If the cause of the short was not chaffed wiring,
then what ever caused it could still exist and cause another smoked harness.

Best make positively sure the wiring is good first, or the new ECM will cook
too. But yes, burnt ecm wiring is a VERY good sign the ECM is burnt too.
