I know the big trucks are moving slowly these days, but what about the
compacts? I know I traded in my Sonoma last year and got a couple thousand
more than KBB suggested I would get from the dealer on a trade-in. Almost
as much as they listed for a private party sale. Since they don't make the
S-10 anymore and its sucha great truck I figured I might get a better trade
in on it (by percentage of what I paid) than I would on the other two truck
I have.
I may be restructuring my truck needs in January or February and trading in
or selling my three existing trucks and buying a new 4WD Crew Cab.
Current.
02 S-10 Ext Cab 4.3 V-6 35K
03 2500 HD Ext Cab 6.0 V-8 27K
04 Colorado Crew Cab 3.5 I5 10K
I figured I might even keep the Colorado (for day to day usage (mileage))
and just sell the S-10 and the Silverado.
I am looking at a 3/4 ton 4X4 Diesel Crew Cab. Actually for most of my
usage a 1/2 ton would probably be adequate, but I do have a couple heavy
trailers I move from time to time.
So what is the current truck market like for compacts and mid sizes. Is it
as depressed as the big truck market?
I will also punch them in on NADA and KBB and see what pops up, but I have
found that they tend to be a little behind in keeping up with whatever the
current market is.

The dealership my wife works at uses www.autotrader.com and
www.newsonwheels.com to keep up with local prices on used vehicles. They
then look at NADA and Kelly Blue Book and of course the offer way less then
street value for the trade in.
