I am looking at a new 2005 Silverado Crew Cab. Someone told me that the
5.3 in the Crew Cab only had been refined/redesigned/upgraded early in
the model year. Does anybody know the facts behind this? Also, where
does the VIN start with the new motor?

Thanks

From what I can see...it looks like the 5.3 in certain applications will
come with either a cast iron block or aluminum block.  They've already
been running the all aluminum 5.3 in the Trailblazers.  There are some
other changes, but nothing major.
