2000 SUBURBAN POWER WINDOW ISSUES

I have a 2000 k2500 suburban, and my driver window stopped working out
of nowhere! We thought it was the switch because it just STOPPED
working it wasn't like the motor was going, and the window got slow or
anything. The rest of the windows worked not only from their individual
swicthes but from the drivers master switch, but the drivers window
button just made a clicking sound...and nothing happened. So like I
said we replaced the switch....same thing. So now we are wondering if
it is the motor. We were just wondering if anyone else had or has an
issue with this or would have an idea of what it may be in hopes that
we won't have to replace a gazzillion parts before figuring out which
part is defective. We would take it to the dealership, but we would
rather not spend a million $$$ on everything they "think" is wrong with
it. haha. HELP PLEASE!

Sounds to me like you are going in the right direction. Youve replaced
the switch, motor is next. Might want to check wires for continuity and
be sure current is getting that far before you lay out the cash for the
motor. If you get current at the motor connection, well, you are at the
end of the line, its the motor. (based on your info i.e. clicking sound
and "nothing" happened)

Good luck,

Charles

Not sure if yours is old style or new do to 2500.

Anyway, my 99 old style two door Tahoe has the same problem. Just when you
need, the window won't go down. Then after a bunch of
miles/bumps/whatevers...it will work on a day you don't need it. Then will
work about 10 to 20 times then freeze again. It only fails in the full up
position. It has never stuck anywhere else or refused to go up.  It must
have a bad spot on the motor rotor that lands at just the right spot to keep
it from starting. I know it is not the switch because when I press the
switch the voltmeter dips indicating some current going through the
windings. You might check that too or power the motor through the fuse and
watch with a fused ammeter. On my 99, there is a circuit breaker but I'm
pretty sure it protects both sides so it is probably good if the passenger
side works...you should check that also.

I'm sure my motor is bad but I've got no time to work on it. Besides, it is
kinda fun to go through the drive thru backwards and let the passenger
order....the kids love it.
