read recent treads on this done all of the above. disconnect battery
ect.. i tried changing the TCCM that did not work...fuse is good...all
connections are good...already replace 4wd vacuum actuator 1 monht ago
replace 3 line vacuum switch on trans fer case becuse it stuck open
and got fluid up to the vacuum diaphram which caused it to fail.. this
is a new thing. 4wd high works going into 4wd low and back fine.. no
codes when i depress the 2wd button it clicks at the tccm and at the
transfer case.but goes back to 4wd...i am thinking the encoder motor
is bad it has a halleffect in the motor that encodes the position of
the motor via 2wd 4wd high 4wd low. i do not think this is working...
am i on the right track??

Pull the encoder and test it.

repaired... the actaul encoder motor itself is fine .but the the
plastic part that bolts onto the motor is corroted and it pulled away
from motor about 1/4" which pulls the halleffect awahy from spline so
computer cannot see what poaition it is in , so it defaulted back to
last setting. so the new encoder motor assembly repaired it
thanks

Good. I have seen a couple of the motors fail in strange ways.
