Reversing lamp switch is the next thing to check.

it's a combination Neutral Safety and reversing lamp switch screwed into
the transmission case.

Unless he has the A604 ultradrive, in which case you would check the reverse
relay usually near the trans controller.

...which he doesn't, in the '89 Town and Country he claims to be working
on. In fact, he hasn't got *any* transmission in a 1989 Town and Country,
because there appears to be no such thing as an '89 Town and Country, per
se. I had initially assumed he was working on the Chrysler-badged,
woodgrain-bedecked "Town & Country" version of the K-car wagon, sold as
the "LeBaron Town & Country" for a few years in the mid-late '80s, and
this is the most likely vehicle he might be referring to, in which case
the engine options were 2.2 and 2.5, turbo or TBI -- no V6, and no A604.

The Town & Country you're thinking of, the Chrysler-badged version of the
minivan, which *was* equipped with the A604 ProbleMatic, did not appear
until model year 1990.

So, original poster: What kind of car are you working on?

Although in classified ads Town and Countries were sometimes
abbreviated "T&C" or just "TC", The Chrysler's TC By Maserati is not at
all the same as any Chrysler Town & Country every produced. If the
original poster has a Chrysler's TC By Maserati, the car is a Chrysler's
TC By Maserati, or simply a "TC". However, the original poster
specifically said "1989 Town & Country".

No lights eh?

Possibilities include the switch, faulty wiring, faulty ground, faulty
bulb sockets...

Check to see if you have power at the socket when the car is placed into
reverse. If you find you do, check the condition of the sockets; if not,
start chasing the wires and/or ground.

The switch is a likely cause, but it's very possible that it's one of
the other things I mentioned as well.

Good luck!
