I have a 1998 Plymouth Grand Voyager

1st symptom odometer mph and rpm gauge would work fine but every so
often they would not work at all --- but later again usaully the same
day they would be normal.

2nd symptom car would give a slight jerk when accelerating particularly
if you were heavy on the gas pedal

3rd eventually check engine soon light came on and car began running
sluggishly although car is still running

question is if it was the timing belt would car still operate if
transmission is gone will car still run

The oil and transmission fluids all looked fine only obvious thing was
a split hose from the air filter to the engine could that be the
problem?

Have you checked the Fault Code?

If the transmission is gone, the van will not move. If the
transmission is wearing out, the vehicle wil remain usable until the
tranny fails completely (or some other problem kills it). When did you
last change the transmission fluid? What did it look like?

Did you replace the hose?
