Chrysler Cirrus 1999

Hi guys,

since 5 days I own an Chrysler Cirrus LX (1999, 2,4ltr, automatic
transmission).
I wonder whether this car has anti-lock break system (ABS). There is no
panel light (to show function/malfunction) or switch to
activate/deactivate. I did a full breaking at 30mph for a break test
but I could not feel the typical "rattle" of active ABS. So my question
is: should the Cirrus has ABS and how to check whether it is
functional?

The second question is about the computer codes. I read the page at
http://www.allpar.com/fix/codes.html but I'm not able to read the codes
using the methods described there. All I can do is activate the gauge
check (turn ignition on while pressing the trip button). This test runs
fine and finished after 4 different checks with "End". Did it mean
there are no failure codes? Or what shall I do to read the computer
codes in the right manner?

Last but not least, the power window from the left rear door won't work
neither using the switch in driver door nor using the rear seat door
switch itself. So I assume, that the motor is stuck. Any other
possibilities (all the other power windows are doing well)? Is it easy
for me to change the defective motor or should I go to the repair shop?

Thanks for your attention and sorry my bad english, I'm not a native
speaker.
Greetings

Check it as you did, first the bulb test on start up, then if you are still
not satisfied you can give me the last 9 of the vin and I can check what
options the vehicle was built with when I get to work.

Hello Glenn,
thank you for helping me. I did the bulb check (I assume you mean
"Check 2" where all the bulbs come up sequentially) but no "ABS" light
is offered. May be the bulb is dead or there is no light? I don't
know...
However here are the last 9 digits of the VIN:
7xn687266

Thanks in advance.

Greetings

It does not have ABS brakes and there is an incomplete recall that needs to
be done on it. C45 shifter.
Have long have you had this vehicle?

Hi Glenn,

at first I want to thank you for your reply.
As mentioned in my first post, I owned this car now since a week (to be
honest: since 6 days *g*).
Should I go to the Chrysler shop to ask for the recall? Could it be a
problem that I'm in Berlin/Germany? May be they don't know nothing
about a recalll? Anyway, asking is for free :-)
This car was imported 7 years ago straight from Canada and was not
original sold from Chrysler in Germany.

As you have big knowledge about the Cirrus, could you help me for the
other things too (power window, reading computer codes)? This would be
fine :-)

However, thank you again.

That's how I would start to get the recall done, I have no idea how they do
things over there.

OK, I will ask a Chrysler repair shop to check for this recall.
Thank you again.

You may wish to check in the owner's manual to see if there is a card
to indicate a new owner. Complete the card and mail it in. This way,
you can be notified of any other recalls.

I am curious, did you have to change out the headlamps to comply with
the German lighting requirements?

I don't know whether the headlamps are changed, because I'm the second
owner of this car since it's here in Germany. But I think it would be
done.
However it is still equipped with Daytime Running Lamps, which are not
required here in Germany. I noticed an additional switch for turning-on
the special fog-taillight, which is a must-have in Germany.
Since my car has already an ordinary vehicle registration I assume that
anything is OK concerning the lights. :-)

Greetings
max.
