I have a 92 Ram 250 , OD transmission went south while comming north on
the NJ turnpike. I have a 91 Ram 250 with a good 3speed non OD trans.
What do I have to change to put the 3speed in the 92 other than the
Trans& I assume the torque converter. All input is appreciated. ANY ONE

The money you're going to burn up in gas is a year by losing the OD
would pay for a rebuild. As for physical compatibility between the
two, I'm clueless in this application. Is the '91 essentially a
lockup A-727?

By "full size" do you mean the truck or the transmission? Engine size would
give a clue as to which transmission you have.
If both of the transmissions are of the same basic family (727/518 or
904/500) the 3-speed will be shorter than the OD unit and will require a
longer driveshaft and different rear mount. If the '91 truck is the same
wheelbase as the '92 all of the parts necessary for the swap will be
available.

One other issue when swapping from an OD to a 3-speed is the SBEC
(computor), with no termination for the OD/converter terminals the computor
will probably throw a code and this might be dealt with by using the '91
3-speed SBEC but there are different ones in '91, some have the alternator
voltage regulator built into the SBEC but earlier trucks still had the
separate firewall mounted regulator.
