So for the same money, I could buy about 4 Vipers, modify them to >1000
horespower (turbo, blower, and other kits readily available), and mop
the streets with that fugly VW in drag.

BTW, it IS rather ugly.

But I am not sure you could stop at the mods you listed to get the car to
operate problem.  You'd need to modify a whole lot more.

If you're so clever, why not offer your services to VW development dept?
