I have a citroen C3 1.4, Petrol, MAnual. It's an 03 reg and i bought
it about 7 months ago, all was well until 4 weeks after buying it. I
was struggling to get the gears to go in, especially 1st and reverse
when engaged there was a delayed reaction which meant pulling out
turning right id have to wait till completly clear and not a car
insight before i could go. Then the power would start to die on me, i
was driving to london in the outer lane doing about 80mph when the car
dies right down to 50mph and got slower and slower i had to get to the
hard shoulder as soon as possible. Then the engine started dying on me
whilst driving id have to return the ignition to get going this would
happen whilst drivng at 40mph which was very scary. i tokk it back to
where i bought it who recommended i go to a garage that they deal with
who checked the vehicle and said they thought there may be a problem
with the gears, the company i bought it from then decided to look at
it themselves and said there was no fault at all and that the vehicle
was safe to drive. These problems continued for another 4 months until
i persuaded them to pay for it to be looked at by citroen, whoadvise
it needed a ecu download and speed sensors replacing. when i took it
to be repaired they then said that the speed sensors no longer needes
replacing and they couldne find any faults yet the problems had become
worse, they then did a full ecu/computer download and also replaced
some parts i needed the parts cost around £80, the total bill came to
£306.00 which i was shocked at the price but had to pay. 3 days after
the work was carried out my vehilce was making funnt noises which i
can only describe as needing to change to another gear although it
didnt, then i started to smell burning in which i stopped the vehicle
and checked it out, the burning was strong under the bonnet and i had
to keep the vehicle off for a while thena few days later it started
jumping in 2nd gear like it needed a choke? i took it back to the
citroen garage where they said there was no fault. I feel that
purchasing this vehicle was the biggest mistake of my life and what
should be a pleasure to drive is not. For a 1.4 there is hardley no
power and feels like a tank. Any suggestions anyone????

Have you bought petrol from one of those supermarkets that had  a bad batch
recently?
If you have, and your vehicle has one, it might be the oxygen sensor. I've
no idea
if the C3 has one or not though.
