Vehicle towed in with non running situation, fault code read two faults
found 1112 fuel pressure intermttant low pressure and 1118 electric fan
no1 poor earthing and or battery. The vehicle will start every time if
fault codes removed or left for a short period of time but will stop when
put under load, however will tick over almost forever. When observing live
data all fuel pressure is lost momentarily just before it stops as though
switched off. The vehicle had a history of this fault over a year ago with
the dealers spending months rectifying the fault(they will not give out
the information what was carried out other than to say they replaced fuel
filter and housing under warranty surely this job would not have taken
months to do , more likely they had a wiring defect )though i am led to
believe the garage before the dealers had replaced the intank fuel lift
pump but could not find the cause and effect of this non running and
washed their hands of the job.It seams as though this model has a wiring
history of this problem among others with this common rail pressure
system.Has anyone come accross this or may shine a light to it. I HAVE
SCANNED ALL THE WIRING AND REMOVED AND CLEANED ALL THE VISABLE EARTH
POINTS.
your help would be appreciated

The Dispatch 1.9 D is not the same, or is it ?

Very unlikely. Common rail diesels run at some ungodly high pressure,
unlike "normal" diseasels.
It's almost certainly identical - as far as the fuel system goes - to a
Xant/Xsara/C5/406/Whatever HDi, though.

The standard diesel is very much different as Adrian suggests the operating
pressures are up to 2000psi.This type of system is common rail high
pressure as fitted to Fiat Scudo and Peugeot Partner as well as this
Citroen, which I am led to believe have similar difficulties. This problem
is difficult due to the way in which the software has been developed to
protect itself when the pressure drops, by switching itself off not just
simply adopting a limp home mode.

Fault finally traced to low pressure pump within tank, although recently
replaced was defective.New unit cured problem, wiring fault code a red
herring.Dangerous software that switches car off altogether when underload
and pressure insufficient,typical French?

And how badly would you be complaining if it *didn't*, and the high
pressure pump suffered damage as a result?
Oh, and don't moan too hard about the HDi being "typically French" and
rubbish - Ford buy it in and rebadge it as the TDCi... They obviously don't
have your blindspots.
