My Picasso needs a service, but I don't want to take it to a Citroen main
dealer. Will a local garage be able to reset the "Arrange Service"
warning. Come to that, is it possible for ME to reset it?

Don't know about the Picasso but my Xantia has a countdown mile indicator to
the next service and when I take it to a local French car specialist, not
far from me in South East Essex, they reset it, they also run diagnostics
tests and have even reprogrammed the "computer" in the past.

Might be worth a look in your local Yellow Pages (in the UK) and see if
anyone specialises in French cars and then giving them a ring.

Xantia is easy....

With ignition off, press *and* *hold* the trip reset button.
Turn on ignition and watch the service indicator count up to it's max
number.
Let go of the button.
Turn ignition off.
Turn ignition on again and watch the spanner symbol illuminate for 5 secs or
so.
Turn ignition off again.

Job done.

Alan,

Thanks for that didn't realise it was that simple, but then I am not in
anyway interested in car mechanics, give me a PC anyday :-).

The info regarding finding a local specialist will probably still be of use
the the OP anyway.

Do you really want to reset yourself?
Citroen installed it for the advice of the wise and to be ignored by the
foolish.
In any event if you change it a franchised main dealer should notice when
you come to have it serviced as Citroen's records won't add up.
Apart from invalidating any warranty you should declare your interference to
any prospective purchaser or be guilty of deception under the Trades
Descriptions Act.
This will lower the price which anyone will offer you for the used vehicle.

<raises eyebrow cynically>

*Bzzzt* Wrong.

A car does not have to be serviced by a franchised dealer to maintain the
warranty. It has to be serviced according to the service schedule, but not
by a dealer. EU law.

Which is not applicable, as he's not a trader, but selling privately.

Besides, I certainly read the original post as he was planning to get the
car serviced...

It certainly shouldn't. I'd far rather have a used Citroen that's been
serviced by somebody who knows what they're doing than by a Citroen dealer.
