Dear posters
You all had me worried for some time. But it appears our newsgroup is
really taking off.
My absence is not noticed anymore, but don't worry, I still look after
the group.
I cancel all spam I can find and each week the Charter appears from my
PC.
I am glad I could be of service to the Citroen community.
Wanted to wish you all the best for the coming week.
Take a look at our website www.aacit.net , there are my wishes to you
all.

Sounds like it. But I won't.
It's just I don't have the knowledge to help people. I don't know much
about Citroens, just know I like my XM.

You've done a good job - the group is taking on a life of its own!

A bit too centred on modern cars for me, but never mind. I'm still
lurking.

Have a good holiday!

Fate is feeling SOOOOO tempted right now.

I can almost hear your SM hiding.

Are you telling me that my Xantia isn't a *real* Citro?n? I can show her
maintenance bills: any SM or CX would be proud of'em.

I cannot wait until the heater matrix got leaky or the ABS ECU went nuts,
aaaah, the joys of the citroenhood.

Oh, maybe you mean... no, no rust spots so far, dammit!

Wah! That's a GINORMOUS job on a Xant. TBH, unless the car's otherwise
spot-on, it's heading for scrap territory...

You should see some of the bills from the Activa, fortunately we got the warranty
company to pay out ;)

My Xantia is an Activa, actually. The Activa, her 10 spheres and her W-code
tyres...

Heh, I have had my Activa for 18 months now in that time she has had...

diagnose faults+service 216.75

(specialist, who wasn't very special tbh)

9 new spheres+suspension adjustments 404.37
repair leak on firmness regulator 23.50
hydaaflushing + new fluid 67.56
replace 2 height correctors and anti roll bar bush 135.26
aircon treatment 17.93
new cambelt 145.28

(that lot was at pleiades)

replace the scissor linkage+adjust suspension 318.70
fix abs sensor+fix alarm+remove/clean suspension linkage 475.29
new activa ram 262.31 (ish, lost the receipt)

(that was at main dealer)

4 new tyres+balance etc. 405 quid (ish, lost the receipt)

2469 quid ish, all in. Fortunately I pretty much only paid for the tyres
and iirc the new cambelt myself.

My XM's damn near free to run after the CX...

That doesn't sound good.
The XM is way better looking as the CX. It should be regarded as a
classic, the XM that is.
Anyways. I got to drive it until something really bad happens cos I
've spend so much on it.
With that money I could have bought a *real* classic.

OK, OK, yours is larger (I mean, the bill), you win ;-)
Tyres+spheres+discs+fluids+various adjustments = 1800ish, but this figure is
euro, which in pounds is ...er... well, some pounds. Say 1200.
I could have bought a CX GTI automatic series 2 with this money...

Adrian, I warn you: any comment including "Activa" and "BMW" in the same
sentence won't be welcome. Thanks for your comprehension :-?

Give us the low down when you pick it up - I for one will be interested in
real world feedback on it.

Will do. Might take a while though. I think the delivery will be at
best at the end of February.

Wanna bet? Three and a half grand for a service, engine overhaul and
MoT. Go on - raise me on that, I dare you!
