I've just had my 5 year old Xsara serviced by Halfords/AA/National, I asked about the drive belt getting renewed and they tell me it doesn't get remewed until it is 10 years old. Is this correct. A colleague tells me it's usually 5 years. Any help appreciated If by drivebelt you mean what we used to call the fan belt then personally I'd change it when it needs changing not at a set interval. On the Xantia the aux drive belt is checked every 18k miles on the petrol and 12k miles on the diesel. The timing belt is changed every 72k miles or half that distance if you do a lot of stop start driving. Citroen wanted £350 for a cambelt change on my Xantia. I got it done for £120 by a specialist less than 100 yards down the road from the dealers. SignatureMalc Thanks Malc, I'll do that.
