Roy - 20 Feb 2005 17:04 GMT I have about 500 miles on the 05 2500 4X4 QC SB Cummins. Dodge and Cummins seem to have come a long way from my 2K. Don't see any real need to bomb it. It accelerates nicely, handles predictably. The interior has some nice touches. The under console storage and the under rear seat flat floor thing is pretty cool. Body fit is good, no wind noise. The only thing not to like is a vibration/drone at 65mph, that can be addressed, and the usual tons of brake dust.

It is a pia, but it can be corrected according to what I read at the tdr.

I have had the truck up to 90 MPH with no vibration, but the brake dust is a lot. I was a Ford owner for over 25 years and i had an Expendition that Ford could not fix. So, screw Ford!

I'm glad my truck was parked in my garage. You couldn't pay me to buy a Ford.

Took it for a 300 mile trip and played with the tire pressure a bit. Found at 65 mph with 60lbs psi there is a drone but it is minimal, lessens at 70mph. Still have to try a couple of hose clamps on the front drive shaft. Might live with it until it get's warmer.
8+ inch's forcast for tonight.

I guess I have been spoiled by the Blizzaks. The BFG's don't cut it. Maybe with 700lbs of weight it might be okay. Pushing in 2wd up a slight incline with a full blade, after 40feet the rear started to step out, tried a little angle and it was no better. Had to go to 4wd, remember this was about 8" of light powder. Parking lots where you could use some speed it was fine. The electric shift (that I was leery of) was fine, real quick. With the plow raised it is very, very light on the a.s end. So for safety sake weight has to be added, next year though. Still waiting for my strobe to get here.
A heavy wet snow should be here Mon. night into Tues. That could be interesting. All in all it plows real good, quick no lag at all. Very nimble as far as backing and turning And all that torque is amazing, now to get some traction to get that torque to the ground.

Tom Lawrence - 25 Feb 2005 23:28 GMT > So for safety sake weight has to be added But... but... but... you don't need to add weight in the back to a 4x4 :^)
Roy - 26 Feb 2005 00:15 GMT >> So for safety sake weight has to be added > > But... but... but... you don't need to add weight in the back to a 4x4 > :^) I know, I know. Never have had to before with a 4X4 but with the plow raised the rear wheels respond like they are barely making contact with the ground. Now with snow on the ground traction becomes a joke. Maybe it's the weight of the QC that is making the difference, maybe it is the 610, I don't know. I didn't have anywhere near the problem with the 2K standard cab, plow weight was about the same, I don't think the Cummins jumped a whole lot in weight. Who knows.

All that sitting around getting a fatter a.s didn't hurt ya much.. <BFG> I got a new set of Revos (after all the snow had already fallen of course) and they made a world of difference. The last two times I've been out for touch-up I've only had to kick in the front end for the loading docks. Have I ever told you what I think of loading docks???
