If he bought it summer of 2004 he might have over the 36,000 mile
warranty but still under the 70,000 powertrain. Even at that theres
still the emissions warranty which will cover it. At least here in AZ a
vehicle won't pass smog tests if the engine light is on with any problem
relating to emissions.
