2004 silver durango paint rust issue

I have a 2004 silver durango and have had the following problem ever
since I got it.
A week or so after I got it I noticed a couple of tiny dust
spots/speckles.
When touching it it would feel a little rough and it would come off so
I didn't pay much attention to it.

A few weeks later there were more and as time went by they increased
considerably.
So,I take it to the dealer and they buffed it or whatever they called
it and it got worse.
So I take it a second time and the same thing happens.

Long story short,I took it to them a total of 4 times and they couldn't
fix it.Right now the car looks not like a brand new car.

After the 4th time I decided to pursue the issue legally..I ended up
going to a hearing with the Attorney General's office and a
representative/lawyer from Chrysler and they told me that since it's
not a safety problem that can cause injury and that it doesn't affect
in any way the drivability of the car they won't do anything about
it..They told me that I should give them a chance to fix it,eventhough
they had already tried 4times.

I really thought that I was the only one but along the way I have met
with people that have different colored Magnums and Durangos that have
the same problem but they were just
starting with the repair procedures.

Is there anyone out there that is having any similar problems with the
paint on their 2004 or newer Dodge car or truck?

I have a Black 04 ram 1500. The paint quality is very poor. They need to put
it on heavier. Not enough to complain about though.

A "very poor" product isn't worth complaining about?

Of course the previous four times they (Chrysler) didn't try to fix the
defect; the dealership was attempting to quiet your complaint. The fact that
the paint doesn't effect the driveability of your vehicle has nothing to do
with the issue. Your Attorney General should be ashamed. In the mid to late
80's General Motors was recalling and repainting most of their
automobiles...remember seeing their cars and trucks that had the paint
peeling off in sheets? That didn't effect drivability, and you can bet that
General Motors didn't voluntarily repaint five model years of vehicles. Some
states Attorney General had to take GM by the balls and force them to stand
behind their defective workmanship.

The only way to fix your vehicle is to take the paint down to the bare
metal, correctly prime the metal then paint. If Chrysler agreed to "fix"
your car, then that's what you have comming.

What I mean is that I would like it to be put on a thicker and with a deeper
lustre. It's not defective but it could be better with more depth to the
color.

Black paint dull? Try using a good old fashioned paste wax. Do a small
section at a time. While the wax is wet sprinkle it with corn starch. Wait
for it to dry completely then sprinkle on another dusting of corn starch.
After you buff it out with a clean dry towel the finish will look much
deeper. This will make a dusty mess so I recommend starting on the roof and
working down.

I have a dark blue 2004 Durango. It chips way too easy but not really
enough to worry about. Look up your states lemon laws. Most states do
not seperate problems as being safety issue or non-safety issue.

Are you sure its coming through the paint and not just adhering to the
paint?
I had a 98 Dak with what I thought was the same problem. Turned out to be
tiny metal fragments either coming off the front rotors or off the front
pads. Once they stuck to the paint they started to rust and it looked very
much like body rust. I'm talking flecks smaller than a grain of sand.

It is definitely coming up through the paint because it happens
everywhere on the car.
