just thought i'd drop a note to you all.  next week i am redoing my
computer and i decided that im not gonna redo the agent newsreader
thing. i just don't have the whatever it takes to deal with the ng
deal anymore and this is really the only one i follow very much
anyway.

i will actually miss a few of you.  roy, hope all goes well.  you are,
all in all, a pretty good guy.  denny, same to you.  you have always
been a class act.

max, i enjoyed your stuff.  your stubborn attitude was fun to watch.

tbone..........you really are a good guy at heart.  hang in there man.
same to you miles.  you and tbone are a lot alike.  i hope you will
not let the union stuff drive you two too far apart.

beekeep.  i always enjoyed you here.  you are great.  you have a good
sense of humor.

budd..............well, man..........you are having some serious
problems man, but i hope that you wake up someday and get a sense of
common sense and just sense of personal pride.  that is about all i
can say budd, without being really unkind.

anyway, i enjoyed this place for the last six years and honestly wish
you all the best in the next six years.

time for me to move on.

You'll probably be back, maybe just to lurk.  This place is like a fungus and

Wait a minute! Now that I'm wide awake and really paying attention. You are
going to redo your computor and aren't up to setting up Agent? C'mon, don't
be so damn lazy, use a different reader. Newsguy or OE no muss, no fuss.

lol.  ok, i'm like you, i have to have some coffee before i really
think about anything.

but, nope, everything is very good right now.  i just signed up for
fios, so i decided a new computer would be good, and i'll give the
other one to my son.  fios will be here on tuesday and the computer a
day or so later.  so then, i started getting all the software that i
need together for my new system.  you know, all the worthless crap
that i love so much.  anyway, started to download agent again and just
stopped.   seems like all  do here is to end up in an emberassing
discussion with budd anymore and i just honestly can't do that
anymore.  i don't feel good about it but i can't let it go either.
sort of like rubbing my eyes when i have allergies.  i know it is bad
but i can't stop.  feels good at the time but feels bad later.  so, i
decided it may be best to just give it up.

im not giving arguing up though.  belong to a local fishing newsgroup
and there are some really interesting debates that go on there.  of
all places, in the religion section!  imagine that.  oh, and i still
get to argue a whole lot at work as i still do the internal affairs
stuff there.  been plenty to work on there unfortunately.  i do agree
though that this place, in spite of some of the wierd discussions and
arguments is therapy.  it can be very healthy here too.  you in
particular, and some others have been a class act.  thanks.

It would probably take the jaws of life to pry "the machine" from mac. Ya
think that is the problem? I figured we might send the resident rabbit on a
road trip. Nothing like the sight of a floppy eared pink rabbit showing up
in your yard armed to the teeth(ya got teeth?) to give ya a attitude
adjustment.<VBG>
We could always drag out DD and send him/her. Hell, I've still got his info
around here someplace.
Ya kow what I never did? I never ran his name on the nat'l sex offenders
registry.  I ran the kansas registry. There was one, same city, but a
different first name. Kansas sucks, it is not mandatory that they register

Back to the issue at hand. I figure it this way. After a bit he will be
soooo curious as to what dumb stupid thing one of us has said he will have
to look. But then again.. it seems that he may personalize it too much, some
time folks here can cause you to say things that you would not ordinarily
say. You would smack the sob right in the cocksucker, but ya can't reach out
and do that so ya have to type it.
It is one of those things when there is a voice inside that booms out STAND

Now thats scary... I read in another post where a transvestite showed up a
couple of weeks ago. I missed that. Was it the DD/Phud combo??

> Soo ya stepped over to the dark side and got a black toy. Nice!

Kim says to get it. I gotta find out what its worth first. After a couple of
phone calls last night and comparing what I have to what is selling on
gunbroker, I may have to pass on this one. SP1's are bringing $1,500-$2,000
in excellent shape. I'm gonna have a guy I know look at it tonight and see
what he thinks.

I don't know, I don't buy a collectable's. I figure that you are only here
so long and should enjoy yourself as much as possible. Gun's are made to
shoot imo, not to look at. Same with cars or trucks, they are made to drive,
no garage queen's. I can't really enjoy something if I have to worry about
it's value and useing it might depreciate it. Anyway, the colt imo is old
tech, in the case of this @$1,500-$2,000, expensive old tech imho. Having
said a bunch more than you probably want to hear look here for a little
cheaper one's.
www.bushmaster.com  I've put at least 3,000 rounds through mine with no
problems at all. Note you can use either 223 or 556 in them.

Nate and I just had that convo...im not a fan of Bushmasters....and Ive
owned a bunch of ARs...
Ordered and waiting on a SA SOCOMII and see how it is..and Im telling
ya..for the $1100 or so you pay for a BASE Bushmaster, AR A1, you can add a
few to it and get a SOCOM.
Im gonnahave under $1600 in mine when all is said and done, and will have
more goodies than the same pricerange in a BushMaster.
But...Ill give Denny $600 for the Colt, and Ill even drive to get it..

I'm with you, if I get it I'm gonna shoot it. I just want to make sure I
don't get something that shouldn't be shot. I don't want to ruin some
collectors dream. Myself, I don't put a lot of faith in Gunbroker anyway.
Everything there seem way high to me.

And that's another thing. This is stamped .223 rem on the side but numerous
sites have said that it is really the nato chamber. Maybe I really should
believe everything I read on the net.. <G>

ar just kinda jumped out of the bushes at me.

M-16A1 and M-16A2 fires the .223 Remington cartridge with a military ball
cartridge 5.56 MM designator. I fired expert (290+ out of 300) for 10 years
with it.

Compared the cartridge with a Remington .223 and they are physically
interchangeable. I believe the powder used might be different, but since I
don't do reloading . . .

After reading the link Denny posted, the two rounds are not interchangeable
in all ar's. Further they say that use of .556 in a tight chambered 223 is
unsafe.

All I know is we fired .223 in '16's and one guy fired the 5.56 in his
Remington, or so he said . . .he was the E-7  Sergeant in charge of the
rifle ranges with a munitions MOS. I worked with him daily for a month and
he is an honest person.

As far as I'm concerned, discussion over. You do what you want.

Gee, how many times have I been chewed out for saying that very thing .
. .

"I hope so 'cause in this case your info could get a person hurt."

Ya know, Roy, I think an E-7 with some 21 years of service time in
armament just might know what he's talking about. How much time did you
say you have?

Well, I would say the people that manufacture the ammo would know even more
then your E-7, and they state that the two rounds ARE different, that a .223
can be fired in a 5.56mm barrel, but that firing a 5.56mm cartridge in a
.223 barrel could result in "gun functioning issues", and declare it to be
"an unsafe ammunition combination".

Well ya know Budd, I don't give a f.ck how long he was in. E-7 after 21
years, must have been a real pisser. In any event you or he were incorrect
in your info right from when you jumped into this thread. Also the info that
you offered up could have resulted in a injury or worse. That is nothing to
play around with.

If it matters I had 4 1/2 years active by the time I was retired a E- 5.

And in all fairness, there are LOADS of people that think that the two
rounds are universally interchangeable....really.
And, there are SOME rounds, (these are not it) that when you go for a custom
reload, you case fire them to get the case the way you want it...and im

Theirs are actually chambered for the 5.56 and the .223 can be used in
theirs IF the barrel has the 5.56 designation on the barrel in front of the
front sight.
It also goes on to say, that if you own OTHER than Bushmaster rifles,
chambered for the .223Rem, you dont use 5.56 ammo in them.
SAAMI does call it unsafe.

Budd, while there isn't any external difference in the rounds, there is a
difference between the .223 rem and the nato chambers. This site explains it
better than I can.

I believe the nato is .556. As I understand it there is a small difference
between the two, not much but some. Anyway, I know that the bushmaster will
chamber and fire both .223 and .556 with no problem. I don't know about the

I'm simple minded, I guess...
We were issued .556 for the 16's and a .223 was a 22 magnum for close work with

No, they are much, much better -- unless you boil all the taste out of them.

If you smoke'em it doesn't even matter how fat they are either -- the
smoker takes care of that -- just cut the fat off later -- and they
PRESERVE better too! hee hee

I got two thirty rounders and a Weaver 1.5x scope this evening. I've got the
nato chamber in mine so I guess I'll see how much the phrase "loose a little
accuracy" really is. I'm guessing for the kind of shooting I'm doing I'll
never know the difference. It's rare I shoot farther than 200 yds. The good
thing is the county gunshow is next weekend so maybe I'll find some surplus
to try. I got to stay with the 55 gr or maybe 62 gr rounds since this is an
early ar it has the 1 in 11 twist.

p.s. see the reply about how plump rabbits are best smoked (bolied fills
the water full of fat that you have to cool down and scoop off the top)

Just a tip for the future, Buggs...
If asked that question in front of your wife, say "no, I married a fox"..
Ya might get some points for that one..

But you're looking at it from the inside, Buggs...

To an outside observer, she's racking up points year after year for putting up
with you, right?

Kind of strange that a midwestern wabbit and a right coast railroad hippy would
come up with a story like that...
What IS this "machine"  you guys keep talking about and how does it fit into
your umm.. friendship? *g*

Bro.. ya know it is no story

C'mon bro.., you don't have to share if ya don't want to.

Denny, it seems the our friend is loseing his mind. Now he has moved into
total denial. He has forgotton that the machine has a long history in this
group, that there have been a couple of pictures posted of the machine. More
importantly he has forgotton to look where it was last seen, in the back of
HIS truck enroute to a meet with Red. I think he finally might have either
tipped over the edge or gotton his hands on some real good sh.t.<BFG>
