Please Helpl!  My 1995 Dodge Ram dies frequently when slowing down
while approaching stops.  The engine RPM goes to zero and then the
engine dies.  Sometimes the engine RPM goes to zero then returns to
normal.  What's UP???
RamMan@dodgecity.cc - 22 Apr 2006 01:01 GMT
Sounds like possibly stuck or sticking IAC module (Idle Air Control
motor). Location is on the back of the throttle body.

Thanks!  I'll check it out.  I found out later today that it could also
possibly be the Throttle Position Sensor.  Do you have info on this
sensor causing this problem?

Diesels don't have IACs or a TPS.

My Dodge RAM is not a diesel.  Does that mean that I DO have an IAC and
TPS??
TBone - 23 Apr 2006 04:34 GMT
Yep!

Then it probably wouldn't run at all and would light the MIL

I don't like dealing in probablys.

but....
if we must......
then.........................

The OP probably has a 6 cyl.
He's probably got a broken baffle in the fuel tank.
He's probably never going to do anything more than pop the hood
and poke at a few hoses, maybe take off the air cleaner, take a gander
down into the radiator......then say fk it....he'll git it checked
someday.

probably.

not likely.

but.....
definately, possibly, probably.

The Cummins diesel used in the Dodge Ram does have a TPS.

well.....now we're getting somewhere.

It's not a diesel, but it might have a tps if it was.

see how easy it is to get all the pertenent info needed to diagnose
a symptom.

why hell......
i figure by the end of the thread.......
we should know which engine he has..........
an maybe.......which model it is too........................

I have a 5.2 Liter V8 Dodge RAM 1500 1/2 Ton.  Hope this helps.  By the
way, I did change out the TPS today and so far today the engine has not
died.  It also seems to have made the transmission less troublesome.
It was "chattering" alot during acceleration at slow speeds and was
having problems going from 2nd to 3rd gear often.

Google Groups has nothing to do with it.  It's
the people who participate on usenet that you should
be impressed with.
RayJor - 26 Apr 2006 06:36 GMT
You are right!!  It is the people...
