This was on the news; it's time to decide where we stand.

Georgia just passed a law saying that you have to be in the country legally to receive public assistance... sounds like a no-brainer, right?
It looks like it will be over turned because it discriminates!! Against who, illegal aliens? oh.. I think that's Undocumented Immigrants now.... *sigh*

What I find interesting is that the majority of legal Mexican immigrants oppose any form of amnesty. They went through the long hard legal process and are irritated that millions might get a free ride to bypass what they went through to become a citizen.

What I find the most troubling is that they come here and do not even want to learn the langue. Around here there is a lot of them. One of my daughters works in a pharmacy and they do not speak english nor have any desire too and expect others to understand their language. (most have some state aid to pay for drugs too while residents do not) She has had 4 years of spanish so she can manage but she should not have too. If I went to Mexico or China, I would expect myself to learn their language if I wanted to live there not them to learn mine . ----------------- The SnoMan www.thesnoman.com

LONDON - Stone Age Europeans were the first trans-Atlantic sailors. Columbus and the Vikings were mere ocean-crossing latecomers, according to a leading American anthropologist. Dennis Stanford, of the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, says Neolithic fishermen and hunters sailed the Atlantic in tiny boats made of animal skins 18,000 years ago and colonized the eastern United States.
Such a journey would represent one of the most astonishing migrations ever undertaken - the Earth was then in the grip of the Ice Age and much of its high northern and southern latitudes were desolate wastelands blasted by storms and blizzards.
On the other hand, much of the planet's water was locked in icecaps and glaciers, and sea levels would have been much lower than today's. The edges of the continents would have extended further into the oceans.
"The gap between Europe and America was greatly reduced," Stanford said. "It could have been quite feasible for fishermen and whale and seal hunters to sail around the southern rim of the packs of sea-ice that covered the North Atlantic and reach land around the Banks of Newfoundland."
Stanford's theory - outlined at a recent archaeology conference in Santa Fe, N.M. - is based on discoveries indicating ancient American people were culturally far more like the Neolithic tribes of France, Spain and Ireland than the Asian people whom scientists had previously thought to be the sole prehistoric settlers of North America.
Stanford also points out although modern Native Americans possess DNA similar to that of Asians, they also carry some variants found only in European people. This genetic input could only be explained by accepting Stone Age people could sail ocean-going boats, he said.
"We now know that human beings learned to sail 50,000 years before the present," he said. "Mankind settled in Australia then and it was not linked by any land bridge to Asia. It could only have been reached by boat. Clearly, we had mastered sailing tens of thousands of years before America was colonized, so we should not be surprised by the idea that people took boat trips across the Atlantic 18,000 years ago."
The theory that prehistoric Europeans colonized America was first put forward in the 1950s by archaeologist Frank Hibben, but was discredited by evidence supporting the notion the continent was populated 20,000 to 15,000 years ago by Asian migrants who walked across the land bridge then linking Siberia with Alaska, and who then trekked south through the continent.
Stanford does not disagree Asian folk colonized ancient America, but argues current genetic and archaeological evidence shows an influx of Europeans must also have taken place. The prime candidates for these migrants are the Solutrean people who lived in Spain 23,000 to 18,000 years ago and later colonized parts of France and Ireland.
They designed and made beautifully crafted fluted stone blades that bore a striking similarity to those made by the Clovis people who lived in America 11,000 years ago. Like the Clovis, the Solutreans made stone scrapers to prepare hides and kept stores of stone implements, buried in red ocher, round the countryside. These ancient Spaniards therefore must have been among the first New World settlers, Stanford says. Native Americans are Iberian, not Siberian, in origin.
The theory's main problem stems from the fact an Atlantic crossing in tiny Ice Age boats would have been an awesome undertaking. However, Stanford argues it would have been a less arduous undertaking than might be expected. "If a storm arrived, they would have camped on an ice island until the weather got better. Eventually they would have drifted west until they reach eastern America," he said.

In general, here on the rez, Indians use the term Indian, though you'll sometimes hear "Diné" in the Navajo Nation, as large as West Virginia, and the largest of the reservations.

Dale Yonz - 02 May 2006 06:47 GMT Here in Canada we have to put up with French writing on everything we buy. On our cereal boxes, toothpaste, chocolate bars etc etc. there has to be french as well as English. You buy electrontic product, you get two instruction booklets, one in french and the other in english. This costs extra money, so the consumer pays for it. I got a yamaha rhino, and half of the decals had to be in french. Out came the heat gun and peeled them off.
Canada has to be billingual, yeah right. The British kick the frenchmen a.ses in a war couple hundred years ago, so why force french on the rest of us.
Just wait, my southern friends, maybe it's happening already. You will be reading or staring at spanish everyday on your instruction manuals on new products that you buy. While having breakfast, you will be reading spanish on your milk cartons, cereal boxes. There will be billingual signs at airports, trains, etc. etc

Billboards all over town are in spanish. Signs at public places are in both languages. Government has been forced by law to print any public documents in both languages.
One thing I don't think will happen that has in Quebec. Businesses do not have to alter their name to conform to French. Street signs do not have to be in French etc. Products can be sold in English without having to be first translated to French such as DVD's etc.

(County hospital for Dallas County) One of the people interviewed was an illegal alien having a baby. Maria was in the ER having her 8th kid. She's here illegally and the Dallas County tax payers are footing the bill. Things like this just piss me off. I have no problem if they are here legally. But damn it, round up the illegals and ship their butts back home!

There are a few in congress talking about a constitutional amendment that requires one parent to be a legal US citizen in order for their child to be a US citizen regardless of where the child is born.
It will have a tough time passing because illegals will play the race card against it.

That is just about the dumbest thing I ever heard and you are right, it will never pass because it shouldn't as it goes against everything the ones who founded this country stood for. Now if they change it to at least one parent was here legally with a visa or green card or is a citizen, then it would at least stand a chance.

Seems a big deal ought to be made of this. They are ignoring the laws they are sworn to uphold. I don't beleive there is an option to pick and choose which they uphold and enforce. The 14th amendment does just that. You're right though. Not everyone. Children of heads of state are not automatically US citizens because they are not subject to the jurisdiction of the US necessarily.
14th states: All persons born or naturalized in the United States and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside.

For example if you went to another country to work for a foreign company, you would still be expected under US law to file and pay taxes on those earnings.
A non-citizen is not under the juridiction of the US thus cannot be required or forced to pay US income taxes even thought they may have visited the US once before.

I feel sorry for them, but they bring it on themselves... You;d think that in 30 years he could have found a way to become legal..

They need to do one of 2 things, as I see it:
1. Have only illegals not work, to show the impact, if any, of them not being here..
2. Call it a sympathy walkout and urge everyone to not work..

The installation is not free. It's buried in the high price you pay. The quality of the installation is crap. I buy my equipment from reputable local independent shops and then install it myself.

As much as I hate Best Buy I do have to give them credit for doing away with mail in rebates. At least here in the Dallas area. They are the first retailer that I know of locally that had the "balls" to give the discount to the customer on the spot. Now knowing Best Buy they raised their prices to do it. But I do hate rebates.

It seems to be a 50/50 chance that I ever get the rebate sent to me. Sure I can wait an hour on the phone and argue over where my $20 is but I'd rather avoid the whole mess to begin with. Electrical tape always comes unraveled in the summer heat.
