Jon - 29 Sep 2006 02:05 GMT '97 1500 Shortbox Reg Cab SLT, 318 auto, 2wd. I bought it a few years back for its simplicity and *ahem* stone "reliability". It's taught me everything the hard way. At least it gave me a year before the stuff hit the fan.

Rehabbed the crusty exhaust... dual exhaust w/ a crossover tube. I converted to dual batteries (Interstate group 27 Workaholic), added 1/0 welding cable front/rear for Superwinch S3500 electric "wench" + jumper cables (also 1/0 cable). The winch is on a cradle w/ stinger that attaches to either the front spot hitch, rear receiver, or the front of my car trailer. I'd love to find a set of brackets to add my 100A alternator... anyone have a donor Cordoba equipped w/ 400 cid & 100A alternator?

I wonder if the thick coating of red Australian dust counts as an option?
The only new addition is a moderate-sized console-shaped fridge for the back seat (12v). That thing was great on our recent road trip, and'll be even better as the temperatures rise to 40c (104f)!

Budd Cochran - 01 Oct 2006 02:37 GMT Check the fuse holder on that van and see if the plastic looks like it's been hot and/or the fuse doesn't fit very tight in the fuse holder clips.
If you find either one or both items, the fuse holder needs to be replaced and the fan motor is at least partially shorted out.
I had the same problem on my D-150 and that's what it took to fix it.
