Well, as it is a Federal requirement to have a cat on the vehicle if it is
to be a road use vehicle, yes, you must have a cat. If you live in a state
that does emission tests, with out it, you will never pass. If you live in
an area that does not emissions test and does not look at the exhaust system
during inspections, you could get away with out one.

Not only is it a law to have a catalytic converter ... it just makes
sense to have one. They do actually perform a function that "benefits"
everyone.

Well, if it was manufactured in 1975 or later, which his Dakota certainly
