I have headers that come into one cat then split out into dual
flowmasters
What needs to be done to the front or rear O2 sensor if the cat were
removed?

What do you really think that you are going to gain by removing the cat?

It needs to be mailed to EPA with a return address
attached, a description of why you took it off, and
a check for (i think)...$10,000 or so for violating
Federal Emissions laws........
or........
you could attempt to swallow it..........
while sitting in a oven.........
perhaps giving you some idea of what it's gonna
be like someday for my ancestors to breath........
while dreading a sunny day........ozone depleated day.
because of folks like you.

Actually, that would be your descendants, not ancestors.......not that I'm
splitting hairs........but I agree with you.

.. and, there's nothing in unprocessed engine exhaust that'll be any
harm to the ozone layer.

How did you get a feline stuck in your O2 sensor???
badump - bum.

If you remove the cats it would be illegal to drive it on a public Highway.
IF stopped you face the prospect of a VERY BIG fine. Headers will hurt your
performance on a street vehicle The only gain will be in the upper RPM
range & it will COOK everthing in the engine compartment from the extra
heat. Not worth the agravation IF you must?? use a cat back system

I would't remove the Cat if i was you, use a cat back exhaust system if
your looking for a better sound. Also removing the Cat could cause
engine problems if you have a downstream O2 Sensor.

Gary,
Since no one else has given you serious info, I will. I have nothing against
hot rodding, if done correctly. We do live in a different time now and the
wife's tale once told that you cannot make serious HP with a CAT is simply
not in touch. There is a rub, when you are done, the vehicle must pass the 4
gas analyser test. So, you don't remove the O sensors, they are necessary
for the computer to work. Headers and dual exhaust with dual converters work
fine. Be very careful with cams. Long duration cams will not pass. High
lift, fast ramp cams will pass. Watch your valve centers. Cams with valve
centers lower than 108 degrees won't pass. Crank driven superchargers will
pass. High compression pistons do not pass and you can't get good fuel 9.5
is street max and you may not pass the NO test. 9.0 and you will. If you use
dual converters, don't use big ones, they won't get hot enough to function.
Good luck,
Steve

Summit Racing sells a plug in module that will "simulate" the output of
a functioning post-converter O2 sensor. It's not street legal, of
course. Leave the pre-converter sensor on one bank. Then he can have
his long tube headers and straight dual exhausts.
I sure hope he doesn't live in my neighborhood.
