High Output.

The trucks will have H.O.with manual transmission, while the
automatics will have a engine with lower output.

Really, sure you don't want to rethink the above?

The ones I have seen have been that way (From the factory, that is).

You might want to look at a few more.

the 555 and 610 are both considered H.O. and are offered with both auto
and man transmissions in the DR. now in the BR/BE it was true that when
the H.O. was first introduced it it was only offered with the 6 speed
manual. (IRRC the 5 speed manual still was the lower output engine) this
may be the trucks you are thinking of, but it hasn't been that way for
some time.

Yep - and also for the first half of the '03 model year, the 555ft.lb. HO
was only available with the manual transmission, as the 48RE wasn't
available then.  Auto trucks of that timeframe got a 250HP/460ft.lb. SO
engine and 47RE transmission.  California trucks got the 235HP/460ft.lb.
engine, regardless of transmission.  That all cleared up with the
introduction of the 50-state-legal 325HP/600ft.lb. engine in the latter half
of the '04 model year.  The engine was bumped to 610ft.lbs. for '05.

And just to complete the timeline, the '07 model year saw the first
availability of the new 6.7L Cummins, but initially only in the new-for-'07
chassis cabs, at 310HP/610ft.lbs., with either the G56 6spd manual, or Aisin
6spd auto tranny.

Finally, the '07.5 models introduced the 6.7L engine to the regular pickups
(2500/3500), with 350HP/650ft.lbs., but only with the 68RFE 6spd. automatic.
6spd manuals with the G56 transmission get a de-tuned 6.7L at
325HP/610ft.lbs.
