Make no mistake the worst is yet to come because the auto industry in
general has a big storm on the horizon. How well they prepare for it
will determine how well or if they survive it.

Sure...just take a drive down to your local dealer.
I was near a Ford one recently when I realized it was mostly (more than 50%)
trucks on the lot.

Perhaps there are many trucks on the lots because they cannot move them.
With gas on the rise yet again and expected to be over $3.00 a gallon by the
summer, only an idiot would buy a truck that really didn't need one.  The
reason that Ford and GM are in the trouble that they are is due to the
reduction in truck and SUV sales which happened to be the majority of there
sales in the past.

Yes and in relation to what because their marlket share is failing for
all of them generally. Why do you think they are have rebates or
insectives like free Hemi's Dodge is pushing? It is because sales are
down. If sales where good there would be no incentives. In my opinion
what realy started this big down fail for Detriot was 9/11 in that
when the sales went flat after that for a while they started massive
incentives to move vehicles but it backfired on them because now they
cannot sell cars without them and it slowly cut into the bottom line
for all of Detriot and then through is recent fuel price hikes
Detritos money making SUV's have been not paying the bills. They
should have bit the bullet then and waited the storm out then but then
did not and help create this spiral they are in today.  Even now they
still cling to SUV's in new forms to try to restore profit  (all of
Detriot) and one more good price surge in fuel to say 4 bucks a gallon
in next year or so will kill demand for them almost 100% and will
leave Detriot in big trouble. GM is also making a additional  big
mistake with Saturn which started life as a econbox car and now it is
fully part of GM and the future focus for it is SUV's too when the
need for econobox is going to grow. The SUV craze will die one day for
sure the only question is when and Detriot as a whole seems fixated on
it never dying and when it does so may Detriot if they do not get
their ducks in a row soon. Yes there is a very big storm brewing.

hold it.  look, i'm not the grammar police, not at all.............but
i still have to ask you what the hell are insectives?  does that have
something to do with insects?  i mean, let me in on this news, what is
dodge giving away?

get a grip genius.  this issue began just a "tad" before 9/11.  do you
read the papers at all?

or they should just let a genius like you run the company.  yeah,
that's the ticket.  that'd fix all their problems.

So I guess that means Dodge has no other competitors and no reason to try to
attract new Dodge owners.

Competition has little to do with it this time as they are all having
trouble selling them and if the demand is good, there is no need top offer
such large incentives to attract customers.

Well Chryler sales were 80% trucks, Seems they are moving fine.
Always room for improvement and try to steal Ford and Chevy customers.
You learn that in basic college enconomics
