2003 Ram 1500 QC 4x4. I bought the truck new in May of '03, and had to take it in under warranty in January of '05 to get the mode door replaced at 10K miles. The door broke and would only blow out the floor vents, nothing for defrost. I just got the truck back from the dealer this evening to have the same repair done again, at 21k miles. This time they told me they replaced the mode door and mode door housing, as they were both broken. They gave me a "one time customer satisfaction" repair, and only charged me 50%. Cost me $250. I told them I couldn't be coming in every 2 years, (or 10,000 miles), to get this POS door replaced. Having to pull the refer charge, draining coolant, pulling the dash to change a piece of plastic is BS. Why isn't the door made of steel? Anyone have similar problems? > 2003 Ram 1500 QC 4x4. Why isn't the > door made of steel? Anyone have similar problems? The A/C door on my 2004 Durango broke. Front A/C and heat worked fine but no A/C or heat to the rear vents. Just blew ambient temp air. Door cost $500 to get fixed and I was out of warranty. That was a year ago and so far so good. Oh yeah, they also managed to blow engine coolant over the right side of the engine and frame. I smelled it after I got home. Burned coolant. Cool. No leaks, they must have over filled or made a mess when they bled the air. Burned a spot on my hand cleaning it up. I guess I'll keep my fingers crossed. >> 2003 Ram 1500 QC 4x4. Why isn't the > door made of steel? Anyone have similar problems? My 03 Ram will soon hit 60K, and it's been a pretty good vehicle. No problems with the A/C whatsoever, unlike every other Chrysler vehicle I have owned in the past, including an 85 Caravan, 93 Jeep Grand Cherokee, and a 99 Grand Cherokee. The Caravan had the door break, twice, and all three had the condensor crack. The 93 CG did it four times in the 7 years I had it, all fixed under warranty. Every time it happened, I was out of town, and it was over 90 degrees out. The only problems I've had have been: Warped rotors, they will be replaced soon. Turned at 12K under warranty. Stuck tailgate when I got it, a screw was overtightened and it broke. Axle clip fell off, pretty much destroying the rear end, everything replaced under warranty. Discovered when I took it in for axle service at 24K. Computer flashed to resolve weird shifting issues. BDK 2003 QC 1500 2WD 5.7L Hemi: Ate rotors like they were cardboard, when I first got it. Finally put on heavy-duty Napa rotors & they lasted 23K. Blew a $2.30 valve spring & truck was laid up for two weeks, while dealer screwed around making sure he'd get reimbursed under warranty. 7/70 covered what would have been a $1250 repair bill. Dealer then calls a week later, saying my 60K maint is due, and they will cut me the special price of $1400 to do it. It wore out original tires and next set in 125k miles, maybe I should have rotated them more than once. Wore out a front U-joint in about 85k miles. One injector in 97,500 miles. Front shoes at ~60k, front and rear at ~125k. Oh, and at only 110,000 miles, the rubber pedal thingy on the parking brake wore out and had to be replaced. I was thinking of replacing the whole truck, thinking of Snowpuddle's advice to someone else to dump their vehicle cause of a little sensor, but decided to keep it instead. Often when someone thinks their rotors are warped there are other issues. 2004+ Durangos are known for calipers chattering when braking at high speed. Why > isn't the door made of steel? Anyone have similar problems? Same problem except my 04 hemi QC gets heat everywhere BUT the floor. Mostly defrosters and mid dash. Quoted $1600 bucks to fix. That was with only 33K miles. The QC on these trucks absolutely sucks. I'm getting 10 mpg, driving it like a baby. Anyone want a nice (looking) 04 QC? |
