Just finished with the new home theater. The wife is yelling "Get some damn
headphones!" So seeing as that has been her only request regarding
equipment, who make's a good set? I don't want wireless and I need a 14'
cord if possible. I'd like to do the 14' without a bunch of extension's and
adapter's tia

Oh, to help you out Rabbit, 14' is, about the size of your belt.<VBG>

Don't know any with a 14' cord, I ended up making my own custom
extension (didn't like those stupid coiled ones). For head phones, I
ended up with a set of Studio Monitor phones--best sound I've heard
from phones, including the electeret ones I had some years ago.

However, sadly by the time you reach our age, frequency response is
usually secondary anyway! <bg>

I'm told, and agree based on home theater speaker tests, that Bose is
overrated and way overpriced.  If price is no object though, also
consider Sennhauser - I'm told they are awesome.  Lemme know what you
get, I might be shopping for a pair meeself soon.

What I've found out over the years is that true audiophiles(sp) hate bose.
I've had their stuff before and it works fine. Currently have a 3-2-1 set up
in a small room hooked to a lcd tv and it does what it is supposed to do.But
I got it one a deal.Sue has one of those wave radios and loves it. But for
headphones I think there is better out there, but it is all about what works
for you.

I agree that bose is waaay overpriced.

Tell 'er when she's ready to replace that Wave, to look at Tivoli.  I
think my Tivoli Model Two outperforms that Wave any day of the week (I
was not impressed with the Wave's sound).  Cost, I think, about $200,
but it's built very well and sounds great.

Was in a Bose store not long ago, they had these awesome PC speakers (PC
Monitor I think) but, omg, $400!  Something else playing in there, it
may have been the Wave, was clipping badly and staticy.  What, Bose
hires deaf salesmen?  What those speakers were doing was most certainly
not helping sales any!

How about a set of Sennheiser wireless headphones?  I've had a set on my PC
for a couple of years now - selectable frequencies, a "docking" station to
recharge them (no fumbling with plugs), and the docking station charges a
spare battery.  They'll last a good 3 hours on one charge.

As I understand the wireless has a problem with either music or theater, I
forgot which. But , the more I read I'm not so sure that is correct. Also,
aren't they owned by Monstor?

Check out some of the new ones that use "bluetooth", bro..
I've heard really good things about the full-sized ones and Nan likes the mini's
that her computer came with..

Yup, I want the full sized. Notgoing to use it with the 'putor at all.
Bluetooth? Hell bro, I don't want to be bothered when I have them on.

There at one time was a company that made a surround sound type of
headphones but I ncan't find the name.

Check these Sennheisers out:
http://www.amazon.com/Sennheiser-RS-130-Wireless-Headphones/dp/B0007QN18U

Supposed to have great sound, plus they're wireless with surround.
Amazon's got them for $119.33 today plus free shipping.

Which ones and where did you buy them?

The ones I have are the Model HDR-65.  I probably got them through Amazon.
They weren't exactly the high-end, but for what I used them for, they were
more than adequate.

I should tell you, I'm NOT and audiophile, and I can't tell the difference
between a $2,000 set of speakers, and the $300 set that came with my HT
system.

just tried to suck in another huricane, but cause of it's wore out

Not so fast, my chubby buddy. Ken said "I think da machine".... and spoke in
general terms. Having said that, I'm sure you remember the numerous reports
of a cross country trip, made by a fat guy in a pink rabbit suit, driving a

Further, I'm sure you recall stories of parts of Ohio loseing power when
"the machine" was in constant use. Probably by you and your neighbor and

My Critter and me went fishing Monday am. She hooked a catfish that I reeled
in for her. I have no idea of weight but easily the length of my forearm. <i

the water. And that is fact!!   <BG>

About the only water I'm going to see is outa the sky. Surf was up to the
dunes, so no beach. Town just to the south had 25+ " of rain out of this
storm  Damn storm is supposed to go right over us later tonight as it heads
inland.

It's this darn teeny laptop
(http://www.tabletpcreview.com/assets/951.jpg).  I miss my PC.  We're
still camping out in our house (our furniture, etc is still in transit)
and it's seriously cramping my style. I'll be better, I promise :)

I love my Sennheiser headphones.  Pretty long lead already but
Their cords are 10' long and I'm pretty sure that in order to get a belt
that long, you will need to put at least one more belt in line regardless
of who makes them.  :^)

Which ones do you have? Do you use them for music as well as tv? Where did
you buy them? Looks like I may have to have them shipped, as you can get a
whole heck of a lot of av stuff without a 2 hour ride.

I got my HD525 'phones at Circuit City.  They ar an older design
that I've had for quite some time but my experience with them has
made me a believer and my next pair will be a Sennheiser as well.

I use them for music and online gaming.  I bought them primarily
for their superb musicality but found they work very very well for
any sort of audio need.  I especially like the free air designs that
still allow me to hear things going on other than my music....such
as when someone comes up to talk to you.  But, if you don't want
to hear your wife then you might want a non free air design.  BFG

We had the same problem but did not want to use headphones. So we
compromised and hooked up two small speakers close to where we sit.
This way the main speakers don't have to yell all the way across the
room.

Reminds me of the old daze when we had 3 teenagers at home..

Each had a stereo and tv, so we set up pillow speakers for 'em..
Play it as loud as ya want, as long as we can't hear it..

Our Sony TV came with wireless headphones, but it's a weird setup... They're for
the picture in picture.. Seems kinda dumb to me..
