I sprayed some Krylon Belt Dressing on my belt because it was squeaking
and chirping a little bit on cold mornings. Then I drove to school and
listened to what sounded like the roar of duct tape being ripped from a
roll. Mile after mile, a huge roll of duct tape.

Yes it's the idler pully, While running I sprayed a bit of wd40 on the
idler bearings and it stopped.  I realize that the wd40 will not last
long, can I just add some oil or do I need to replace the idler?

You need to replace it.  It's got a sealed bearing, and once it's out of
lube, it's done.

Replace it. Once it starts squeaking it's only a matter of time till the
bearing start loosening up.

Depends on whether you want to have it fail or not, right? Sure, you
can oil it, but will you really trust it?
