1997 dodge dakota

5 speed dodge ram, it lunges in going forward like im tapping on the
gas on and off, the check engine light is on. im told its a cam
sensor, but it doesn't seem to cut out in reverse. but lunges and
jerks while going forward. any idea what this could be?

check wiring for rubbing on engine parts or loose connectors grounds.  maybe
when going forward it pulls on the harness and reverse it doesn't. have you
had the trans out of the truck? pinched crank sensor pigtail was a major
mistake when reinstalling trans auto or manual.
