Last evening, I drove my 06 2500 with Cummins 30 miles in 4wd on the
Interstate. Not over 45. It was snowing like crazy, and the roads were
glazed.
What's the limits for using 4wd regarding if it's wet or snowy, and mph
limits?

Driving down the freeway there really is no speed
limit for 4wd. You usually have to be below 45 to
shift in and out, though. The problem with using
4wd on dry pavment is during corners. The front
end doesn't like it, and will let you know about
it. But going straight with gentle curves is not
an issue.
You might see a drop in fuel mileag with the front
axle engaged. I've heard that on big trucks
mileage will go down with the transfer case
engaged. But in my little dakota, it didn't
matter.

4H. I really don't think 4L will do 45 even in OD.

On my 2001 Dakota, it gives a speed limit of 55MPH in 4H. Wouldn't be
able to get anywhere close to even 45PMH in 4L, methinks.
