In the morning driving to work the engine is running around 1800 while I'm
cruising at 65mph. In the evening going home, it is running about 2300 rpm.
Why the difference? Tranny cold?
I start in the AM city driving for first 10 minutes. Going home I am two
minutes from Highway. But even when it warms up, the RPMs do not drop. No
codes, no hesitation, nothing apparent to give me a clue.

Sounds like you have a vacuum leak. Don't know if the 4.7 has the same
intake belly gasket that caused leaks on other engines or not.
Any increase in oil use?
