Just picked up 99 Durango at auction, and it came with key but no keyless
entry remotes. There are a bunch of them listed on ebay, but can I program
these with no existing working transmitters? Any ideas?

The first thing you need to know is is if the truck came with the RKE.
This is easy enough to find out. Just call a Dodge dealer with your VIN
and ask. If not, you are going to need to buy a kit and install it. If
it does, you need to get remotes with the same part number that yours
call for. They dont all interchange with each other. just ask the
dealer what the part # is that is required for you truck.
If they wont do it e-mail me. I'll do it for you. I dont have a problem
with it.

Thanks for the info! Dealer sez RKE is installed, and offers remotes for $39
apiece, plus $40 programming charge... reckon the same remotes on eBay will
sell for 9$ each. They wouldn't give the part #... but the big question is
whether I can program these remotes myself? I don't have any existing ones!

Thx!

Was it the service department people you talked too? They should give you
the part number! Ask at the Parts department!
