Bad alternator or diode therein is a good candidate. Other possibility is
ignition noise from old cables.

or bad grounding. it could be that your speakers are the radio's source of
grounding.

And whether the noise always present, or it's something that cropped up?
it's a 1998 dodge avenger and said it happens more once the car warms up
