Hello Guys! I am a girl and as all girls I do have problems in understanding my car's needs. I bought my NEON 1995 recently. I did have to replace already my water pump, spark plugs, a part monitoring oxygen intake to the engine ( code 02 in check engine light), and now I do have another problem. When the engine is cold ( and only when it is cold) I can hear a scratching noise especially when I add a little bit of gass. What it can be ? Also I did a search online for a spark plugs and I found two types . Can eanyone tell me which one is berret to use? And one more thing: After my water pomp replacement I realized that in high temperatures of the summer ( I live in Virginia, summer temps in mid 80s F) the engine coolant starts to boil in the little container ( making boiling noises) after I turn off the engine. Is this normal or should I do something about it? I had coolant flushed twice and it still boils. I look forward to hear your advices Agnieszka Any competent auto parts store can give you the right plugs. All they need is the make, model, year, and engine size. Check the temperature gauge to see if the car is overheating.If it is it could be a thermostat that does not open fully or a badly clogged radiator that a simple radiator flush in an older not so well maintained car might not help. About the engine noise. Are you changing the oil and filter at the proper intervals? Are you using the correct grade of engine oil? In an older vehicle with lots of mileage vital engine parts wear out even if it has been maintained. The noise could be a belt slipping or anything else, did this happen after the water pump was installed? It would really be hard to say what the noise is without hearing it. As far as the boiling noise, some noise may be heard as the cap releases pressure to the tank. Keep in mind that a faulty cap may be releasing pressure when it shouldn't be or you could be having an overheat condition. keep an eye on the temp gauge. Glenn Beasley Chrysler Tech does boiling happen only when it gets hot. if so you are kinda in better shape than if it happens all the time.
