Chilton manual says to rotate tensioner pulley tang clockwise to remove
belt and then "release" the tensioner to remove belt. To install belt
rotate tensioner clockwise again to allow belt to slip over the tensioner
and then "release" tensioner slowly until it contacts the belt.
I'm confused. What do they mean by "release" the tensioner? Does that mean
turning it counterclockwise? It seems odd that you rotate the tensioner
clockwise both to remove and install the belt. Is this correct? Again,
what does "release mean"? Any help out there?

If you had pulled the belt shield off and pulled on the belt you would see
exactly how the tensioner is released. pull the belt with your hand and see
what it does. pull hard
