Can anyone here shed light on the recommended 25,000 mile service
intreval recommended for spark plugs in my Magnum RT with the 5.7L
Hemi?  I replaced them once at about 30,000 and that did not help with
a rough idle that the car has had nearly since it was new.  Now I'm
due to replace plugs again.  The original plugs looked like new after
30,000 miles.  I suspect the current plugs are the same.  Any point to
replace them?  They cost $5 each and the Hemi takes 16 of them, so I'm
hesitant to spend the bucks if I don't need to.

Just because you have a rough idle does not mean it is a spark plug issue,
have the system scanned for any faults. Plugs are recommended to be replaced
at every 30k.
What year is this?

It's a 2005 model that was built in July 2004.  I bought it in Oct.
2004 when the dealer got the first RT with a Hemi.  I thought the
manual said 25K miles, but it might be 30K.

The 30K change is recommended only because they're standard plugs. Use
platinums for $2 more and change them at 60-100K.

The original plugs were Champion RE14MCC4.  When I bought the first
set, there were no platinum replacments available for this engine.  Do
you know for sure if there is long-life plug now for the Hemi?

There are and have always been Platinum, Iridium, copper, etc, etc,
available. Boscsh has 3 different Platinums alone. Who are you asking,
the dealer???? sparkplugs.com which I think is a Denso web site will
list a bunch in NGK/DENSO alone.

Take the vehicle back to the dealer and ask them to see if TSB 18-031-04 PCM
reflash pertains to your vehicle, This is a Flash update for idle,
hesitation, and stumbles issues.

I'd put in Densos any day of the week, NGKs too, but with my
experience with Bosch Platinums, I wouldn't waste my money (because
any money spent on Bosch Platinum plugs, in my experience, HAS been
wasted)

Only if you are only going to own the car for 50-90K
I might not CHANGE the plugs at 30, but I'd pull them and check them
and increase the odds of being able to remove them when they DO
require replacement at 100K
I just changed the plugs on my 95 Pontiac 3.8. It's got 361,000km the
chassis, and just over 90,000km on the plugs (which were NOT platinum,
and had been checked and found still serviceable back at about
$45,000km) They were still firing just fine, but the gap was about 10
thou over spec when I pulled them last week. I put a set of NGK plats
in (same plug as the AC Delco which is now made by NGK) because my
brother got me a good price on them ((about $2 more than the standard
plug IIRC)
Doubt if the truck will go another 100,000km to wear these out, so
there is a good chance I won't be pulling them to check 2 years from
now.
