Hello,

I have a 98 Dodge Neon R/T, While driving to work the other day my #4
Spark Plug popped out of the cylinder.  I can put the plug back in,
but it only turns one or two times then stops...I think the threads
maybe stripped or screwed up on the engine.

Has anyone had this problem? did you use a helicoil spark plug tap
kit? Do I need to take my head all the way off the repair the threads?

Thanks, any suggestions would be appreciated

I don't know if this will work for you (it did for me).  I had a similar
problem with an air cooled vw. (the only practical way to pull the head on
an ACVW is to drop the engine.)

I turned the crank until both valves were closed.  I then tapped the plug
hole and inserted the helicoil.

Once that was done I used a shop vac with a hand made intake fitting and an
air tool with a similar fitting to agitate and extract the filings.

Another option is to leave the exhast valve open and use a shop vac to pull
the filings out that way.

Worked for me YMMV

Grease the tap real well and you can pull all the chips out. Mage DEAD
SURE you don't drop the little tab into the cyl when you snap it odd
after the coil is inserted . Better yet, use a "time-sert" instead of
a helicoil.
