Hi, it's been a while since I've asked any questions here, which is a
good thing  ;-)  .  Anyway, I have a 1994 Ram 1500 4x4, with the 5.2L;
and 130,000 miles.  For about the last 6 months, I've been hearing a
splashing noise coming from the passenger side when I start it, and
sometimes randomly when driving.  It wasn't causing any problems, so I
pretty much ignored it.  But over the last couple weeks, the coolant
temperature has gotten up to 250-260 (normally runs about 190-200).
When this happens, only cold air blows through the heater, even if I
have the knob cranked to the warmest setting.  This also seems to be a
random thing, although it's happening more often now.  The coolant
level is fine.  As the thermostat is only a little over a year old, I
have a sinking feeling it's the heater core crapping out on me.  Any
help, anyone?  Thanks!

Talked to a buddy of mine's dad (ex-mecanic, retired, not fired!!) a
couple days ago and he thinks it sounds like the thermostat is to
blame.  Any ideas anyone?  I just want to get opinions (other than
buying a new truck) before I go through the hassle of replacing either
of these things.  I appreciate any input, thanks!

you say there is no heat and the temp runs aroung 260 does it over
heat and the coolant is full and no heat if the thermostat was stuck
shut it would over heat if it was stuck open it would take a long time
to heat up sounds like a plugged heater core try flushing it out first
before you replace it and check the thermostat as well
