Replacing accelerator cable 95 Grand Voyager

Need to replace the accelerator cable on my 95 Grand Voyager, it is frayed
near the throttle body where it comes out of the plastic sheath and is
starting to bind. Can't seem to find any info on how to replace it. Does
just the cable get replaced or is it the whole unit(cable, sheath, clips,
etc) that is typically replaced? It's got to be fairly easy to do. Should I
just dink around with it till I figure it out? I'll most likely go to a
salvage yard to find a replacement so I don't want to take all day doing
it.Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Replace the complete cable and be done with it. It is easy to do and you
dont have to worry about crimping on ends.

That sounds like the best solution to me, I like easy. Thinking now that
I'll get a new one from the dealer, will call tomorrow to see how much they
want for one.  Thanks for the reply.

FWIW, you may just end up with another impending failure with a
junk yard part. It may also be best to avoid a "universal
replacement", as it's likely to have couplings that could come apart,
or not be as universal as the manufacturer claims.

Beaverton Chrysler-Dodge (a 5 Star dealership) operates
www.moparpartsamerica.com
From their website I got the following:

Throttle cable, all models, 2.4l, w/o adjustable pedals
04-05  MSRP $38.00  Your price $28.50
Throttle cable, all models, 2.4l, w/adjustable pedals
04-07  MSRP $34.55   Your price $25.88

Throttle cable, all models, 3.3l, 3.8l, w/o adjustable pedals
04-07  MSRP $36.60   Your price $27.44
Throttle cable, all models, 3.3l, 3.8l, w/adjustable pedals
04-07  MSRP $33.95   Your price $25.44

There are other genuine chrysler dealers operating discounted
online parts departments, websearch <Dodge parts>.

I have personally used the online warranty department of a different
brick and mortar & online dealership. I purchased a "Genuine Chrysler"
extended warranty online for about 45% less than the local dealerships
finance department wanted. That warranty shows up on my vehicle data
as such. (Not a 3rd party warranty).

Well those look like great prices but not what I was finding today. Local
dealer wants 82.40 plus tax. On the net I found one for 50.68 plus shipping
at www.moparpartsamerica.com. They are listing the MSRP at 68.70, which is
less than the local dealer, what gives there? So anyways... I went over to
the salvage yard after all and they had one in great shape for 5 bucks. Was
surprised at how easy it was to pull out. I left my work at 8:02, the yard
is just a few miles away. Walked in, chatted for a few minutes, went out to
the plymouth van area, pulled out a throttle cable in a 91 3.ol Voyager,
wasn't quite an exact match. Walked over to a 94 with a 3.3l (my engine)
and pulled one out of there. Exact match. Went in to office, admired an old
Chevy Chevelle that was being restored, chatted a few minutes,  paid my five
bucks, drove back to work... returned at 8:29. Took all of 27 minutes.
Sweet. Put in van when I got home from work, works like a charm. Thanks for
your replies and help. Really is appreciated.
